Comprehensive Autism Evaluations for Children, Adolescents, and Adults
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by differences in social communication and interaction, alongside patterns of restricted or repetitive behaviors, interests, or sensory experiences. Autism presents differently across individuals and throughout development.
Some people are identified during early childhood, while others reach adolescence or adulthood without a formal diagnosis. Differences in presentation, masking, compensatory strategies, and co-occurring conditions can contribute to delayed identification.

When Should Someone Consider an Autism Evaluation?
An evaluation may be appropriate when there are questions about longstanding patterns of social communication, relationships, sensory experiences, routines, focused interests, transitions, masking, or developmental differences.
- Difficulty interpreting social cues or unspoken expectations
- Strong preferences for predictability or familiar environments
- Sensory sensitivities
- Questions about whether autism, ADHD, anxiety, or another condition best explains the person’s experiences
These characteristics do not necessarily indicate autism. A comprehensive evaluation considers developmental history and alternative explanations.

Autism Evaluations for Children, Adolescents, and Adults
For children and adolescents, assessment considers functioning across home, school, and social environments. Parent or caregiver information—and teacher input when appropriate—helps identify meaningful strengths and support needs.
Adult evaluations consider developmental history, current functioning, social communication, sensory experiences, restricted or repetitive patterns, masking, and other relevant psychological factors.

What Does an Autism Evaluation Include?
Each evaluation is individualized and may include clinical and developmental interviews, standardized measures, cognitive and executive functioning assessment, emotional and behavioral assessment, adaptive functioning assessment, and diagnostic integration.
We consider co-occurring and overlapping conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, learning disorders, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

What Will I Receive After the Evaluation?
Patients receive a comprehensive written report summarizing relevant history, assessment findings, diagnostic conclusions when appropriate, strengths and challenges, and individualized recommendations. A feedback session is provided to review the findings and answer questions.
