What Happens During an Adult Autism Evaluation?

An adult autism evaluation combines conversation, developmental history, standardized measures, and individualized clinical judgment.

The process usually begins with an interview about current questions, developmental experiences, relationships, communication, sensory needs, routines, and daily functioning. Standardized questionnaires or interactive measures may also be used.

After the information is reviewed, the clinician explains the findings and provides recommendations. The purpose is to offer useful clarity, whether or not the final result is an autism diagnosis.
